A few health benefits of this dish
Â
Figs are a nutrient-dense fruit, particularly rich in copper and vitamin B6 for healthy skin and blood vessels, and the production of important neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and GABA for emotional health (1) (2) (3).
Figs also have a diverse phenolic profile with anthocyanins, flavonols, and phenolic acids that help to lower blood sugar, increase insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and reduce our risk for cancer (4) (5).
Studies show that consuming figs improves digestive health. One randomized control trial showed that consuming dried figs (45 g) led to substantial symptom improvements in those with IBS-C (6).

Â
Feta cheese is a creamy, salty cheese usually made from sheep or goat milk (7). This low-calorie cheese is a good source of nutrients like B vitamins needed for energy production and detoxification, and calcium which we need for healthy bones and nerve and muscle function (8). Feta cheese consumption supports intestinal and immune health, providing beneficial bacteria that inhibit pathogenic strains and reduce inflammation (9). Feta cheese also provides dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a polyunsaturated fatty acid with potent anti-cancer properties, that may also aid in weight loss and reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease (10).
